Stella Diana was formed in Naples in 1998. They are one of the few bands in Italy offering a blend of shoegaze with new wave and post-punk. They have firmly found their sound somewhere between Ride, Joy Division, My Bloody Valentine, Slowdive and The Chameleons...
After releasing ‘Supporto Colore’ (2007) and ‘Gemini’ (2011), which were well received by music critics, they toured around Italy several times and also abroad. In 2014, they released the LP ‘41. 61. 93’, representing a perfect synthesis of distorted guitars and dilated sounds.
The song ‘Isabeau’ was inspired by the character of Isabeau d'Anjou, the character from the 1990s film Ladyhawke, starring Rutger Hauer and Michelle Pfeiffer.
“Stella Diana have produced a record that sounds like shoegaze no one had ever done in Italy" (
Rock.it)
“Gemini is a great album, not only because it is very difficult to find another shoegaze band in Italy so compelling, but also because they manage to perfectly blend with the concept (dream) pop, walls of distortion and the Italian language. It is virtually impossible to find another band like them in Italy" (
